Two St. Louis police officers have been hospitalized due to a car accident that left them with serious injuries.
The two officers, members of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, were in a police cruiser together patrolling in the Near North Riverfront neighborhood late Saturday evening when they were told to make a turn onto North Broadway.
As they were in the process of turning, the driver side was struck by a pickup truck.
The officers, one male and one female, were transported to two different hospitals as the male officer was seriously injured and taken to intensive care.
The driver of the pickup truck is also being treated for minor injuries, and is said to be in full cooperation with police. Police Chief Sam Dotson told the press initial reports suggest the driver was not under the influence of any drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.
Over 21% of fatal car accidents in the State of Missouri take place in the St. Louis Region. While the roads are less busy at night, the chances of an accident are still high due to decreased visibility and also driver fatigue.
Car accidents are a traumatizing experience no matter how minor or serious the collision. It is always strongly advised to make sure you receive medical attention after a car accident, even if you do not believe you have any serious injuries.
We, here at the Law Offices of Donna Clark Frayne, send our prayers to everyone involved in the car accident as well as their loved ones.
