Talcum Powder Class Action Lawsuits Updates

February 23, 2017

Dangerous product lawsuits continue to be filed by talcum powder users

More and more talcum powder cases involving Shower-to-Shower body powder and Johnson’s Baby Powder are being filed within the United States District Courts.

Johnson’s Baby Powder, Shower-to-Shower body powder, and other talcum powder products are all products that may be linked to a higher risk of women getting ovarian cancer.

All of these products are made of talcum powder.  Research suggests that talcum powder, when applied to the genitals for feminine hygiene purposes, can make its way into the fallopian tubes, uterus, and ovaries.

It appears that the manufacturers of these products either knew or should have known about the extremely harmful health risks.  If the manufacturers did know about the risk, nothing was done to promote caution or warn against certain usage.

Involved lawyers are to meet with the presiding U.S. District Judge

Several class action cases will be reviewed and positions on how to proceed with several individual cases will also be discussed.  All of the dangerous product liability cases since October of 2016 have been consolidated for pretrial proceedings.

These talcum powder products have negatively affected hundreds and hundreds of women all over the United States.  A whopping 1,288 plaintiffs have their claims pending in our great state of Missouri’s state courts right now.

At least 142 cases are currently involved in the federal talcum powder litigation.  This is encompassing two consumer class action lawsuits and 983 plaintiffs.

“Another 435 have claims filed in California, 201 in New jersey, 77 in Delaware, and two in the District of Columbia; for a total of 2,896 plaintiffs in all.”   Read more about the talcum powder cases here.
